Landlords must be aware that anyone who acts as a contractor or supervisor for the purpose of abating lead paint shall be accredited by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE).
Workers who perform purposeful lead abatement shall be trained by a training provider approved by MDE. Landlords are advised to not use workers who are not MDE-lead certified to do lead abatement work on pre-1978 built rental properties in Baltimore.
