CAR CRASH STATISTICS TODAY : Charles Jerome Ware, LLC, Maryland Attorneys

www.charlesjeromeware,com  "Here to make a Difference. Maryland-based, Nationally-respected."

With cheaper gas prices resulting in more driving and less car pooling, Maryland is experiencing at least a 14% increase over 2015 in car crash fatalities in 2016. It is believed that text messaging and the increased use of cellphones in cars also contributes to the increase in car fatalities. Jaywalking or crossing mid-block by pedestrians, by the way, is the leading cause of pedestrian accidents.

There are, on average, in the neighborhood of about 16,500,000 car accidents in the United States
each year. Car crashes total about $250 billion in damages in the U.S. economy every year. There are almost 350,000 car crash personal injuries and about $43 billion each year in property damage, lost wages, medical bills, deaths, and other costs that government agency statistics attribute, alone, to cellphone usage while driving.

About 120 people are killed everyday in car, motorcycle and truck crashes in the United States. Car accidents are responsible for about 40% of the 20,000 or so deaths each year of children ages 1 to 19
[ According to the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health Injury Prevention Center; Baltimore, Maryland ]. Car crashes are the #1 cause of death of people between the ages of 4 and 34.

In Maryland, about 10% of car crash jury awards are for more than $250,000.
