Since the concussion problem among NFL players continues to grow, in an instant it appears that the NFL may have been let off the hook with its recent class action settlement of claims. After all, annual revenues for the National Football League (NFL) exceed $10 billion. The settlement is only $765 million for over 4500 affected players and their families, and includes a number of things besides cash payouts such as "medical research", etc. Sounds like a huge victory for the NFL to us. I dare say that the final cash payouts to affected players and their families will be relatively small.
Then again, why would the class plaintiffs agree to this settlement with the NFL? The answer seems simple: They need the money NOW, no matter how relatively modest it is.
