Albany, New York millionaire socialite Annie George, age 40, went on trial yesterday (Tuesday, March 5th, 2013) for allegedly keeping an undocumented Hindi immigrant from India as a "slave" in her upstate New York Rexford Mansion.
The immigrant female victim, 49 year-old Valsamma Mathai, testified that she was forced to work inhumane hours for barely any pay (no more than 85 cents an hour) in the 30,000 square foot, 34-room mansion, caring for Annie George's six children, and was forced to live inside a closet for nearly 6 years.
George's massive wealth includes, besides the 34-room mansion, a helicopter with helipad at the residence, a huge solarium, a glass elevator, and indoor pool, and lots of cash (liquidity).
