Generally, there are four (4) ways you cab become a United States citizen :
(1) If you were born in the United States, you are automatically a U.S. citizen.
(2) In some cases, you may have automatically become a U.S. citizen even if you were born outside the United States, if one or both of your parents were U.S. citizens when you were born. The citizenship rules for people born outside of the United States are very complicated. If you were not born in this country and you had a parent who was a U.S. citizen, you should talk to an experienced immigration lawyer or accredited representative to determine if you automatically became a U.S. citizen.
(3) If you had a green card and were under eighteen years old when one or both of your parents were or became U.S. citizens, you may have automatically become a U.S. citizen even if you were born outside the United States. The specific rules for becoming a U.S. citizen in this way are very complicated and you should talk to an experienced immigration lawyer or accredited representative to determine if you automatically became a U.S. citizen.
(4) If you have a green card, you can apply to become a U.S. citizen through the naturalization process.
